In the unapologetic niche
In the unapologetic niche
Walls constructed in patches as if fragments were reconfigured and joined together with the force of tape. Writing and painting that expands beyond the pictorial limit of the "canvas". Fake grass on the floor with stones laid out by children. Installation of a translucent house through which a short film is projected. These various visual elements create a completely staged and oninic universe. As if they were enlarged drawings and rough models of a child (fantasies, therefore), on a real scale.
However, the works are enveloped in a gloomy atmosphere; what is a space of childhood memories - seen as naïve, colorful - is paradoxically laden with texts straight out of a psychiatric ward. We are therefore entering a completely biographical universe in which the viewer is forced to enter this universe.
The images and texts in the work are a continuum to be revealed throughout the artist's oeuvre.
Unlike other works by the artist where the text is erased, in an attempt to forget traumatic memories, in this series it doesn't happen.
Everything is laid bare, with no apologies for the words that may be suggestive to the viewer.
"Griefs, blows, pain, abandonment, sadness, depression. Will I ever be like you? Oh Mother who threw me into the world. I hope not, because I could be condemned by the genetics to a sad and weak madness" (Eva Resende, 2017, automatic writing).
